With the focus on the fun and
festivity of a rural Market day
this lively Autumn event acted
as a theatre for showcasing the Harvest of North Shropshire’s rural
producers. The The Green Fair was the glue of the event. It positively celebrated the moves that people and businesses are making to conserve their world for the kids of the future. By promoting and demonstrating innovative ecological methods such as Alternative Energy, Waste reduction, Composting and Fair Trade, all sectors of the community found something interesting and a stallholder to talk to. The Drayton Round performed in the Library, the Heritage Centre and St Alkmund's Church provided Harvest-themed activities, and with a great mix of music and talk on the Big Leaf Stage and installation art around the Market Hall, this year's Blackberry Fair promised to be the start of something new in Whitchurch. This gives you an idea of what we're about. I hope Elbow won't take offence at us borrowing their wonderful song, One Day Like This, but during the creation of this event it brought its bags and moved itself firmly into my head, so it truly became a soundtrack to my day (for me at least).
